A Conversation With Love

A Conversation With Love

Once, I asked Love.

“Why do you hate me?”

She returned, surprised:

“My poor dear, why this kind of question?”

I said, “You never comfort

my tortured heart and soul."

And Love replied:

“I torment your spirit

to help you thrive,

so you can embrace—

true Love when it arrives

at the threshold of your heart.”

“But why, Love

must I go through so much pain,

and suffer on the verge of going insane?”

“My sweet child,

when one easily obtains

his wild, fervent desire,

he quickly tires of what he desired.

Only effort and ordeal

will keep you safe from unruly zeal.

Be patient; soon, you will see

faithful Love is calm and deep

like a morning sea.”
